4 Stocks Focusing On Their Shareholders With Increased Cash Dividends

In one form or another, I get the this question, “What do you think of the market? Where’s it headed?” Normally, I politely respond as expected, but occasionally I will startle the person with a reply like, “I don’t know. For me it really doesn’t matter much.” My investing goals are not defined by movements in the market. Instead of looking at the market and its direction, investors in dividend growth stocks should focus on quality, price and ultimate value of individual stocks.

Below are several companies focusing on their shareholders by raising cash dividends:

General Dynamics (GD) recently increased its quarterly dividend 7.8% to $1.10 per share. The dividend is payable May 8, 2020 to stockholders of record on Apr. 10, 2020, with an ex-dividend date of Apr. 9, 2020. The yield based on the new payout is 2.7%. In addition, board approved to repurchase an additional 10 million common stock on the open market.

Kohl's (KSS) recently increased its quarterly dividend 5.1% to $0.67 per share. The dividend is payable Apr. 1, 2020 to stockholders of record on Mar. 18, 2020, with an ex-dividend date of Mar. 17, 2020. The yield based on the new payout is 7.3%.

Ross Stores (ROST) recently increased its quarterly dividend 12% to $0.285 per share. The dividend is payable Mar. 31, 2020 to stockholders of record on Mar. 17, 2020, with an ex-dividend date of Mar. 16, 2020. The yield based on the new payout is 1.0%.

Globe Life (GL) recently increased its quarterly dividend 8.7% to $0.1875 per share. The dividend is payable May 1, 2020 to stockholders of record on Apr. 3, 2020, with an ex-dividend date of Apr. 2, 2020. The yield based on the new payout is 0.8%.

Selecting stocks with increasing dividends is critical for an income growth strategy. The above list contains stocks that recently raised their dividends; it is not a list of recommend buys. As always, due diligence should be performed before buying or selling any stock.
