7 Stocks Paying Higher Cash Dividends

We have all heard it… Stodgy, for old people, yawn, boring! These have all been used to describe dividend growth stocks. As an investor in dividend growth stocks, I sometimes think our strategy is the most misunderstood. It seems everyone understands a traders mentality and a high-yield mentality. Periodically, it is good to remind ourselves that dividend growth stocks provides us with excellent long-term leverage and a growing income.

Below are several stocks using real cash to raise their dividends:

STORE Capital Corporation (STOR) is an internally managed net-lease real estate investment trust, or REIT, that is the leader in the acquisition, investment and management of Single Tenant Operational Real Estate, which is its target market and the inspiration for its name. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 6.5% to $0.33 per share. The dividend is payable October 15, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 28, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 27, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 4.6%.

Exantas Capital Corp. (XAN), a real estate investment trust, primarily focuses on the origination, holding, and management of commercial mortgage loans and commercial real estate-related debt investments in the United States. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 50% to $0.15 per share. The dividend is payable October 26, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 28, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 27, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 5.2%.

Innovative Industrial Properties, Inc. (IIPR) is a self-advised Maryland corporation focused on the acquisition, ownership and management of specialized industrial properties leased to experienced, state-licensed operators for their regulated medical-use cannabis facilities. Innovative Industrial Properties, Inc. intends to elect to be taxed as a real estate investment trust. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 40% to $0.35 per share. The dividend is payable October 15, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 28, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 27, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 3.3%.

DDR (DDR) is an owner and manager of open-air shopping centers that provide a highly-compelling shopping experience and merchandise mix for retail partners and consumers. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 5.3% to $0.19 per share. The dividend is payable October 10, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 26, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 25, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 5.6%.

Umpqua Holdings Corporation (UMPQ) provides commercial and retail banking, and retail brokerage services. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 5% to $0.21 per share. The dividend is payable October 15, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 28, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 27, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 3.9%.

New Jersey Resources Corporation (NJR), an energy services holding company, provides regulated gas distribution, and retail and wholesale energy services. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 7.3% to $0.2925 per share. The dividend is payable October 1, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 21, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 20, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 2.5%.

PS Business Parks, Inc. (PSB), a member of the S&P SmallCap 600, is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that acquires, develops, owns and operates commercial properties, primarily multi-tenant industrial, flex and office space. Recently the company increased its quarterly dividend 23% to $1.05 per share. The dividend is payable September 27, 2018 to stockholders of record on September 12, 2018, with an ex-dividend date of September 11, 2018. The yield based on the new payout is 3.2%.
