In our microwave society marked by the ‘I want it now’ attitude, it is unusual to find someone willing to wait. However, deferred gratification is essential for anyone wanting to build wealth and is a key ingredient in a successful dividend investing strategy.

Apollo Global Management, LLC (APO) is an alternative investment manager in private equity, credit and real estate. February 3rd the company increased its quarterly dividend 29% to $0.45 per share. The dividend is payable February 28, 2017 to stockholders of record on February 21, 2017, with an ex-dividend date of February 16, 2017. The yield based on the new payout is 8.3%.

Avista Corporation (AVA) is an electric and natural gas utility with certain other business ventures. February 3rd the company increased its quarterly dividend 4.4% to $0.3575 per share. The dividend is payable March 15, 2017 to stockholders of record on February 24, 2017, with an ex-dividend date of February 22, 2017. The yield based on the new payout is 3.7%.

Southern Copper Corporation (SCCO) is an integrated copper producer that produces copper, molybdenum, zinc and silver. February 2nd the company increased its quarterly dividend 60% to $0.08 per share.
