Weekly Links: April 15, 2017

Each weekend I highlight any notable articles that I came across over the past week. Though I may not always agree with each of the articles highlighted, they will often provide an interesting argument for their position. We can take some concepts that may or may not align with our vision, then apply them to our framework, and voila, a new idea is born.

Unique High-Dividend Stock Yields Over 10%, Strong Growth, Estimates Rising
With the clocks moving forward, spring may finally be on the way, bringing some warmer weather. But no so much up in the Arctic Circle, where harsh conditions can make shipping all but impossible for many months out of the year. This stock yields 10.5% with dividend coverage of 1.37x for the past four quarters. Revenue grew 12%, EBITDA 19%, and distributable cash flow was 18% in Q4 '16. It has received multiple analyst upward earnings estimate revisions over the past month. It has unique assets, long-term contracts and industry tailwinds supporting its distributions...

3 High-Yield REITs Offering 7% or More
The basic concept of REITs is essentially the same regardless of the type. A REIT draws down relatively cheap fixed- and/or floating-rate debt, build or buys real estate and/or buildings, and gets cash flows from that property by leasing it out in some form. It could be to a business tenant, or to nightly tenants if it’s a hotel. The debt is serviced with the cash flow, and debt may get paid down, as well. After expenses are deducted, including taxes, 90% of the remaining earnings are distributed to shareholders. The more efficient the company cash flows, the higher the yield. Here are three REITs that yield more than 7%...

The 6% Retirement Income Stream You Likely Haven’t Considered
One question I get a lot from readers concerns retirement income: “Robert, saving accounts pay out next to nothing. Bank CDs yield less than one percent. Where can I earn a safe income on my savings?” No doubt, savers have seen better days. The Federal Reserve has zapped the retirement plans for millions of Americans. Most feel stuck between meager returns in fixed income or stomach-churning volatility in stocks. That said, one pocket of high yield remains. You can count on these payouts for safe, dependable returns. Thousands of Americans already rely on these for their retirement income. I’m talking, of course, about...

3 Monthly Dividend Stocks To Buy Now
Plenty of investors ask me about monthly dividend stocks—and with good reason. After all, who doesn’t like their dividends rolling in when their bills do? It’s a heck of a lot easier than trying to manage the uneven income stream you get from a portfolio of solely quarterly payers. But convenience isn’t the only reason to like stocks that pay dividends monthly. Another is that monthly payouts signal a confident management team. Shareholders revere dividends, after all, and if management’s fine with getting them hooked on a monthly cash stream, they must be sure they can keep those checks coming—without any nasty surprise. These three are all trading at attractive valuations, to boot. So let’s dive in, starting with...

2 Dirt-Cheap Dividend Stocks to Buy in April
Many people invest in dividend-paying stocks to take advantage of the steady payments with the opportunity to reinvest in additional shares of the company. The best scenario is when you can find a solid dividend stock with a cheap valuation and potential upside. The following automaker and apparel manufacturer have fallen out of love with Wall Street, but they could be great chocies for savvy and patient investors...
