9 Stocks Pumping Up Their Yield With Increased Dividends

There are income investors and Dividend Growth investors. While the distinction is rather simple, it slips past many casual observers. Income investors are investing for maximum current income, while dividend growth investors are looking to maximize income over an extended period of time — usually sacrificing current income for potential greater future earnings. Unlike fixed income investments, a growing dividend means a growing yield on cost.

This week several companies pumped up their shareholders' yield by increasing their cash dividends:

Are The Dividends Safe For These High-Yielding Stocks?

Everyone wants to earn more. For investors in dividend growth stocks, the quick way to earn more is to select dividend stocks with higher yields. Swap those 2-4% yields in for stocks earning 6-10%, or more. Before making the trade, you should ask yourself the following two questions:

12 Dividend Stocks Building Shareholder Returns With Higher Dividends

Over time, a conservative dividend growth based investment strategy usually does quite well versus the market as a whole. My goal as a dividend growth stocks investor is to build a steadily increasing income and not necessarily to outperform the market via capital gains. But given the choice, I certainty don't mind having both.

Below are several dividend stocks building shareholder returns with higher cash dividends:

Who Owns The Top Dividend Stocks?

The internet provides investors with so much useful and interesting information. I could not imagine going back a decade or so and trying to analyze stocks without the internet - waiting for quarterly reports to be mailed for owned companies and calling the investor relations contacts for information on unowned companies. One of my job responsibilities is the statutory reporting for the corporation I work for. Filing 10-Ks, 10-Qs and other such required reports is often tedious, but it gives me a great appreciation of what information is available, including who owns some of the top dividend stocks...

10 Stocks Raising The Dividend Growth Bar

A stock with a high yield doesn’t mean much if the dividend is cut or eliminated, and the stock price declines significantly. Sometimes it is desirable to accept higher risk for a higher yield. Other times we may be accepting higher risk and are not being adequately compensated for the additional risk. One measure of dividend sustainability is the ability of management to consistently raise their dividends each year.

Below are several companies raising the dividend growth bar one year by increasing cash dividends paid to their shareholders:

Wealth is a Journey, Dividend Stocks Can Take You There

Fad diets and fad investing plans rarely work. They are primarily designed to separate you from your money and make the seller wealthy. Real wealth is built with sweat equity and a sound financial plan. For most people fortunate enough to be born in the U.S., or any other industrialized country, they have access to the two main ingredients to achieve financial success: 1. Opportunity and 2. Time.

8 Companies Showing Confidence With Increased Dividends

A person’s character is determined by how they behave when no one else is looking and during difficult times. In much the same way, we can learn a lot about a company’s management when they face adversity. One metric I look at closely during a downturn is cash generation relative to earnings. The ability of a company to grow its dividend throughout the economic cycle is highly dependent on the management’s ability to generate cash in a downturn.

Below are several select companies with a management confident enough to increase their cash dividends:

December 2016 Progress Report

Once again it is time for a goals/progress update. I am pleased to report that annualized dividend income increased last month, extending the streak to 51 consecutive months of increases. As noted in the June 19, 2015 post,  I changed to reporting on total dividend income instead of just income from my Dividend Growth Portfolio beginning in July 2015.

Since I began tracking my total income progress, annualized dividend income has increased in 51 of the last 51 months.

3 Higher-Quality, High-Yield Dividend Stocks

A successful dividend growth investor must start young enough to allow time for dividend growth to occur. What happens when a person waits too late in life to start investing and they need immediate income? Many times the person will invest in high-yield, high-risk stocks and lose their savings. If income is needed immediately and you want to mitigate the risk (to a degree), there are some things that can be done, such as...

3 Stocks Paying Higher Cash Dividends

We have all heard it… Stodgy, for old people, yawn, boring! These have all been used to describe dividend growth stocks. As an investor in dividend growth stocks, I sometimes think our strategy is the most misunderstood. It seems everyone understands a traders mentality and a high-yield mentality. Periodically, it is good to remind ourselves that dividend growth stocks provides us with excellent long-term leverage and a growing income.

Below are several stocks using real cash to raise their dividends:
